Hey!
Nearly 100 income tax sleuths raided the houses of superstars Ajit, Prashanth and Jayaram in Chennai. Incriminating documents, real estate investments and even unaccountable hard cash were alleged to be found at the residence and offices of these stars. The value of the seizure has been huge, but tax officials have not quantified it.  Ajit has been under the shadow of the income tax people for quite some time. They suspect that S.S.Chakravorthy of Nic Arts is his front man. They are also keen to find out the pairs' lavish spending on their new film Villain. Prashanth and his father Thyagarajan have been under the taxmen’s microscope following their frequent trips to the Far East and holding shows there. Even Jayaram who has no new films, has been busy doing stage shows in Dubai. But the industry grapevine has it that Ajit has been raided after some ‘friends’ in the industry has backstabbed him. There is a ‘ban Ajit’ movement in the industry following the actor’s refusal to cooperate with the Nadigar Sangam’s proposed show in Malaysia.

Ajith and Vikram
Nobody thinks that two leading stars can be friendly. According to the rumour mills Ajith and close friend NIC Arts Chakravarthi have fallen out because Chakravarthi gave an advertisement on Vikram's birthday. This news was greeted with great amusement in the Ajith camp since the Vikram film produced by NIC was on the insistence of Ajith who shares a very good rapport with Vikram. Further reports that Ajith was upset with Gemini's sucess created more mirth in the Ajith camp. Now Chakravarthi and Ajith are teaming up for a film to be directed by K S Ravikumar called 'Villain'. The film has Kiran and Meena as leading ladies.

Something to chew about!
Ajit is jittery seeing the success of Vikram and his Gemini. Ajit, who had popularised `rowdy' tales in Tamil films, feels that Vikram is grabbing the action-hero mantle from him. But Ajit's `rowdy' films like Amarkalam, Dheena and Red put together will not come anywhere near the box-office collection of Vikram's Gemini !
Ajit himself has to be blamed for Vkram's current superstardom. Gemini was first offered to Ajit on a platter by director Saran, who even told him about that great item number "O Podu.". In fact Ajit shot for Saran's Erumugham for a week and then lost interest in the project. Ajit's `Man Friday', S.S.Chakravarthy convinced him that he has a more exciting rowdy story called Red which would make him the next Rajnikanth! So he walked out of Saran's film and did Red, which has the dubious distinction of being this year's biggest box office dud! Saran later reworked Erumugham, and with AVM's backing came out with that blockbuster, which made Vikram a superstar.
Now wiser Ajit, is trying to work to his strength in his new film Raja which is a soft romantic entertainer. To outbeat the popularity of "O..Podu." song, Ajit, director Ezhil and music director S.A.Rajkumar has come out with a fast peppy item number-"Vattilagundu .Vettila.." which is sure to send his fans into a frenzy. So Ajit has something to chew about.
