Ajith ready for the big plunge

Source: IndiaGlitz       18/12/04

Is Ajith planning a big leap into politics?

Even though he denies it, his actions say so. Following the success of his Attagasam, the actor has announced his intentions to convert his fans associations in to people's welfare association and render social service for the downtrodden and underprivileged in the society.

At a function held here Wednesday to mark the switch over of his fans associations to welfare associations, Ajith said, "I would henceforth talk less and work more. I have a few movies lined up for release - Ji
for Pongal followed by God Father in April. Also, I am slated to act in a movie to be produced and directed by Bala.'

"Though my previous three movies bombed at the box office, Attagasam has provided me a new lease of life. I have started an endowment in the name of my parents and would carry out welfare measures through them. My only motive is stay on to in my career and help deserving and needy through little what I earn".

Surely such words have been heard before.

Attagasam give Pooja second chance!

For Thambi starring Madhavan, director Seeman approached Asin to play the heroine. However, the heroine was busy with her other commitments in both Tamil and Telugu movies and backed out from the project.

The baton has now passed on to Pooja, whose Attagasam is doing well at the box-office.

Pooja is also acting as heroine in a few movies including a Malayalam movie opposite Mohanlal.

The case of the reedy-thin Pooja is very interesting.

Nobody even gave her pass marks after the disaster called Jay Jay.
She was summarily rejected after that.

But director Charan who had blooded her in Jay Jay, made bold to cast her in Attagasam. With the film going on to become a hit, Pooja is in the hunt.

So for a heroine to be successful, persistence is the key --- director's, that is.

Attagasam album sales up!

Source: Musicindindiaonline       18/12/04

Chennai, Dec 15 (IANS) Bharadwaj has hit the jackpot not once but twice this year with his compositions. But his third film, "Attahasam", seems to be pedestrian fair.

The magic he had woven in his previous two releases - "Autograph" and "Vasoolraja M.B.B.S." - is lacking.

The movie has turned out to be a sizeable hit and the music has piggybacked on the movie's success to achieve merit of modest proportions.

"Attahasam" opens with "Unnakenna... unnakenna", a fast-paced track that grows on the listener. But most other tracks fail to do even that.

"Nachendru ichondru", featuring vocals by Srinivas and Ujaini, is a track that attained popularity after the film did well at the box office. It's just passable and hardly distinctive but it has become a regular feature on radio stations around Chennai.

The next track, "Attahasam", is Bharadwaj's attempt to recreate the immense success of "Vasoolraja" with another track with the same name as the film.

But unfortunately for him, this track - like the rest of the album -

fails to make an impact. With a monotonous beat, listening to it with the volume cranked up can give one a headache.

As far as the rest of the tracks in the album go, the less said the better. If there is one word that could describe all of them, it would be 'pedestrian'.

This album would have sunk without a trace if it weren't for the film's success, driving the album's sales up.
