Ajith's Attagasam in Tuticorin
The Southern districts have become a chosen spot for producers and
directors to churn out their films.
Gone are those days when films were shot in and around Chennai only.
Gone are the days too when producers looked abroad for shooting songs.
Curently more than a dozen films are being shot in areas like
Kanyakumari, Thanjavur, Tuticorin and Pollachi.
While Sarath's Ayya is shot in Kuttralam, Ajith's Attagasam in
Tuticorin, Prashanth's Adaikalam in Kanyakumari, Karakattakari in
Sanakaran Koil and Vijayakanth's Neranja Manasu in Madurai.
Wonder why? Producers say that these plays are new on the screen. And
for another, it is cheaper going here than going abroad.
When some of our own areas look fetching and gorgeous, why should we
go to Alps, asks one producer.
Ajith Vs Rajini
"Rajnikanth was kind enough to come towards me and express his
inability to begin Jaggubhai. He was also keen that I get another
offer, until he completes Chandramukhi. As it happens, I am now busy
with my next venture that would star Ajith in the lead. The movie
would go to floors next month and would be released on 14 April, 2005
along with Rajnikanth's Chandramukhi.
Interestingly he also adds that that as he was in the discussions for
Jaggubhai, Kamal had approached him to direct his Vasoolraja
MBBS. "Since I was busy with Jaggubhai then, I could not take up the
offer. Director Charan who directed the movie did an amazing job of
it. However I have no regrets. Now, I am working with Ajith and
followed by Jaggubhai with Rajnikanth".
My next movie is with Ajith: Bala
On your forthcoming directorial venture.....
After Pithamagan, I decided to a movie starring Dhanush. It was a story that
revolves around a 20-year-old youth. However he had some problems in
between, hence I decided to do the movie later. Certainly in future I would
doing the same story with Dhanush, whom I consider one of the better
performers. Meanwhile, my next would be a movie with Ajith in the lead role.
A M Rathnam would be producing the venture. We hope to begin the venture
